Unlocking the Power of Language Objectives

“Do I have to add language objectives to every lesson I do?” Does this complaint sound familiar? Time to move past performative LOs and into planning that actually supports our MLLs’ academic language growth. In this session, Lillian covers the fundamentals of a metalinguistic mindset, drawing a direct line between how language works to build meaning and the ways in which language supports can facilitate content learning while reliably attending to language acquisition. This session represents the third instructional strand for the Guiding Principles for DLBE. Participants will get an opportunity to tinker with an AI planning tool to streamline the language planning process.
