Coaching vs. workshops
What’s the difference?
Coaching is a form of discussion-based professional support that is less activity-focused. While workshops can be mandate-heavy and often have compliance demands embedded in the outcomes, your goals for coaching are more problem-oriented. Consider this: sometimes you want to plop into your work bestie’s office and just VENT about some infuriating moment (likely anchored in the Monolingual Bias) and while your friend offers a good listening ear, they aren’t an expert scholar who understands the educational landscape and systems level tensions.

COACHING COHORT - JOIN US!-
COACHING COHORT - JOIN US!-
This is a four-session coaching cycle, with each 45-minute session designed to strengthen your advocacy skills and mindset. We will begin by exploring the concept of "Disruption Stories" and identifying the deficit language ideologies that can unintentionally harm emergent bilingual/ELL students. As you gain insights from these frameworks, you will be guided to craft your own powerful "Disruption Story"—transforming your experiences into a tool for impactful advocacy.
What COACHING CLIENTS Are Saying…
“These 10 sessions have really built my confidence level on how I’m able to articulate myself better as an advocate. Especially learning about these advocacy archetypes and then how to spot deficit ideologies, I have a better sense of how to proceed as a stronger advocate for my students.”
— Poki'i Seto, instructional coach in Hilo, Hawai'i
“Dr. Ardell helped me understand the connection between my bilingual students’ low self-confidence and the deficit mindsets my colleagues held about them. Sociolinguistic coaching was something I never knew I needed, but I’m so glad I attended in her last cohort. It legit changed the way I think about advocacy.”
