Close reading for Mls
to tackle your biggest challenges around top-tier literacy instruction for your multilingual learners
Then book this workshop, which is all about teaching students how to read effectively, understand what they’re reading, and bring their own experiences into the comprehension space.
To do this, we’ll dig into research-based theories of reading and thinking neglected in most mainstream curricula and start putting those theories into practice. We’ll learn to annotate asking this fundamental question: “how does the author use language to build meaning?” and then tackle the grammatical forms and phrases that answer this question!
This new method will have your MLs making inferences based on textual evidence that also (importantly!) reflect their unique points of view.
It’s empowerment pedagogy at its finest!
